Your Role:

 

The Process Development Technician will perform the activities necessary to support process development efforts in a laboratory and pilot plant environment. The activities will focus mainly on new product synthesis of Organo-Silane or Organo-Metallic compounds which will include construction of experimental equipment and routine analytical analysis of process and product samples.

 

Responsibilities and duties to be performed consist of:

 

  • Manufacturing compounds in a laboratory or pilot plant setting
  • Operation of pilot scale chemical reactors, filtration equipment, heater/chillers, gloveboxes and inert gas/liquid handling manifolds as well as packaging solids, liquids and gases. 
  • Responsible for safety, environmental protection, productivity, quality, and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Resolve of daily operating issues
  • Diagnose malfunctions
  • Perform preventive and operating maintenance
  • Record and report all deviations from normal operating conditions
  • Maintain up-to-date notebooks
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Follow all EMD Electronics corporate standards for laboratory and pilot plant EH&S
  • This position works on a variable schedule

 

Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with laboratory/pilot plant operations
  • Experience with handling hazardous chemicals (toxic, reactive, pyrophoric, corrosive, oxidizer)
  • Mechanical skills relevant to the assembly, installation and maintenance of glass and metal chemical reactor systems
  • Familiarity with analytical instruments
  • Post secondary education, particularly chemistry or in a technical field
  • Good communication skills
