Senior Research Scientist

Your Role: 

This position is within the Organometallics R&D group of Thin Film Solutions Business, located in Hometown, Pennsylvania.  Primary responsibility will be development of novel precursors for chemical vapor deposition of thin films.  A successful candidate will be enthusiastic, innovative, hands on, results-oriented and a self-starter.  You will collaborate with various business, technology, engineering, and operations personnel to provide technical support for successful new product introduction and commercialization.  You will also work with a global team to better understand customer needs and requirements for new products.

  • Strong commitment to safety, health, and environmental leadership
  • Lead safety reviews for R&D projects
  • Prepare project proposals that include a scope description and timeline for key milestones
  • Develop synthesis and purification of new precursors
  • Collaborate with application team on testing new precursors for CVD and ALD of thin films
  • Collaborate with analytical team on development of QA/QC methods for new products, and process scale up team on product commercialization
  • Aggressively develop intellectual property as related to a given project
     

 

Who You Are:

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science
  • 2+ years of industrial or postdoctoral experience in synthesis of organometallic and inorganic materials
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with handling hazardous and air-sensitive materials such as metalorganic complexes
  • 2+ years of experience with operation and maintenance of inert atmosphere gloveboxes

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organometallics synthetic skills
  • Experience with deposition of thin films by CVD and ALD
  • Experience with scale up or small volume manufacturing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Great interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Initiative and self-motivation
