Your Role: 

MEGASYS® at EMD Electronics is seeking a Safety Specialist at our new location in Taylor, TX.

 

MEGASYS® offers specialized services in managing gases, chemicals and slurries, where our technicians and engineers provide critical on-site support in semiconductor manufacturing environments.

 

In the MEGASYS® Safety Specialist role, you will work onsite at customer location providing safety support for the MEGASYS® team.  This will include auditing operations and maintenance tasks, safety system reviews, reviewing and/or updating procedures, working with the customer on safety related issues and providing any required training.  This position provides a challenging and rewarding opportunity for individuals to contribute to a dynamic and expanding business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance of site processes and procedures with company standards and all applicable federal and state regulations
  • Establish and maintain robust safety and quality inspection programs and reporting mechanisms
  • Develop, implement, and sustain site-level documentation required by site standards, customer requirements, and third‑party audits
  • Continuously enhance site documentation and training in response to customer audits, feedback, and meetings
  • Provide effective onboarding and foundational training for new hires in collaboration with site SMEs and Quality Engineers
  • Ensure safe and compliant use of breathing air systems through regular evaluations and certifications
  • Deliver and maintain all required safety training in alignment with site and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer on safety-related topics, including issue resolution and documentation updates
  • Strengthen site preparedness by planning, conducting, and participating in safety drills with internal teams and customers
  • Drive incident learning by leading Root Cause Analyses for safety events and supporting RCAs for quality incidents
  • Continuously improve site work instructions based on 8D Root Cause Analysis outcomes
  • Ensure timely escalation and communication of all safety and quality issues in accordance with defined processes
  • Lead the creation and submission of 4D/8D reports into customer databases to document issues and corrective actions
  • Identify and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities based on safety and quality evaluations and performance trends

 

Schedule:

The Safety Specialist role is on-site primarily Monday – Friday dayshift position.  Flexibility to work some after hours is required to assist operations with training and reviewing safety systems and auditing.

 

Physical Attributes:

  • 75% of time walking throughout the facility (3-5 miles per day)
  • Basic lifting (up to 40lbs) 
  • Bending of the knees and overhead reaching

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associate Degree in Safety and Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Construction Management
  • 3+ years of experience in a safety position or OSHA and OSHA 10 certification
  • 2+ years Process Safety Management / Risk Management Program Experience (PSM/RMP)
  • 2+ years experience with Root Cause Analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) 
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in a safety position or OSHA and OSHA 10 certification
  • 2+ years Process Safety Management / Risk Management Program Experience (PSM/RMP)
  • 2+ years experience with Root Cause Analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) 
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) experience
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge 
  • Experience in ISO9000 / ISO9001 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial Hygiene, Safety & Occupational Health, Construction Management, or another technical Field  
  • Understanding of P&ID’s 
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment 
  • Planning and prioritizing activities 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Teamwork skills 
  • Analytical skills 
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

Pay Range for this position: $84,600-$127,200/year

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
