R&D Formulation Scientist II - Drug Delivery

Your Role:

We are currently seeking an R&D Formulation Scientist II - Drug Delivery to be part of our Life Science Chemistry Drug Delivery formulation team. As a key member of our innovation group, Scientist II will contribute and lead as needed the collaboration with our partners in Business Development, Marketing, Sales, and Production; ideate the development of new technology platforms and new product concepts in supporting drug delivery program; explore innovation solutions development through chemistry, biology, formulations, and engineering; and deliver quality, reproducible and sustainable production methods and procedures. This individual must be capable in contributing and supporting our innovation strategy, facilitate laboratory operations in an effective, safe and quality manner, as well as guide and develop junior members of our innovation team. Specifically,


Who you are:

  • R&D Formulation Scientist II-Drug Delivery will be responsible for ideation and development of new products and to help expand the company’s business in Life Science
  • In-depth knowledge of different nano-/micro-particles systems like polymeric, lipid nanoparticles-based formulations for drug delivery especially in terms nanoparticles synthesis, optimization and application testing via in vitro models
  • Works independently to develop nano and microparticles based formulation products as defined in the drug delivery roadmap with demonstrated scientific knowledge
  • Able to troubleshoot independently technical problems and support other teams members in troubleshooting technical challenges
  • Proficiency in carrying out in vitro assays with nano-/micro-particles-based formulations to evaluate biocompatibility, toxicity and efficacy of formulations
  • Participate in the development and scale-up of processes and leads the transfer of products form R&D to production and QC/QA
  • Execute experiments, analyze application data, summarizing results, and prepare presentations to business stakeholders with minor guidance from senior members
  • Actively involved in seeking customer feedback and VOCs with key opinion leaders in the drug formulation and delivery field
  • Good understanding of current trends in drug delivery field, market trends and competition in the marketplace
  • Work on multiple projects, mentor and provides technical direction to junior scientists
  • Interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • This individual is expected to set a high quality standard for accuracy, in following good laboratory practices, and in complying with all safety regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related life science discipline
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in relevant scientific discipline


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in nanotechnology-based drug delivery and tissue engineering platforms with hands on experience in nanoparticles formulations development using different methods
  • Acquaintance with biologics formulations and nanoformulation synthesis techniques such as microfluidics 
  • Strong analytical skills for nanoparticles characterization including dynamic light scattering, electron microscopy, size exclusion chromatography, HPLC and gel electrophoresis techniques
  • Excellent cell culture skills with hands on experience in a BSL2 lab to maintain adherent and non-adherent cells lines, independently design and execute different in vitro assays including cell viability, transfection, live dead cell staining, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, and RT-PCR
  • Demonstrated scientific documentation and presentation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001 and Quality Management System
