Supply Chain Manager / Life Science (Tokyo)

Purpose of the Role

Manage activities of planning and scheduling group to achieve targeted service and Inventory levels while controlling operational costs.  Meet established objectives. Support employees in Planning and Scheduling while acting as a technical resource, business leader, and mentor.  

Key Responsibilities

l.    Manage a high-performance team of self-directed supply chain planner professionals; provide leadership and mentoring to achieve defined objectives
m.    Develop and lead S&OP process and facilitate timely and efficient gathering and dissemination of information
n.    Drive input from Sales, Marketing and Product Management to improve the overall forecasting process
o.    Effectively communicate and coordinate the flow of information necessary to plan, evaluate performance, and highlight risks (known and perceived)
p.    Develop and lead continuous business process improvement initiatives
q.    Manage stakeholders at a local level (Commercial, Regulatory/Trade Compliance, Distribution & Logistics) 
r.    Effectively network with Global Supply Chain colleagues as well as with counterparts across APAC with a view to introduce best practices with the Japan SC
s.    Uses analytical skills to immediately resolve issues and perform root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurrence
t.    Manage the purchase planning activities for procured products from intercompany suppliers
u.    Maintain and monitor inventory levels to ensure service & inventory levels are well-balanced and on target
v.    Assist in the implementation of all SAP planning modules


Interfaces with other Departments/Functions: 
l.    Business Units, Customer Excellence, Distribution, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Controlling, Procurement, Internal suppliers


External Interfaces:
l.    Distributor, External Suppliers, Implant shipping agents, Auditor

Key Performance Indicators     
l.    Direct contribution to Supply Chain metric improvements inline or above target, such as Fill Rate, OTIF, Backorder levels, Inventory holdings
m.    Drives and implement supply chain strategies
n.    Development of improved supply chain processes, leading to tangible results and time savings
o.    Projects successfully delivered within agreed timelines     
Candidate’s Profile 

Education/Professional Experience
l.    Degree / Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management or business qualifications
m.    At least 10 years of Demand & Supply Planning experience with at least 3 years in a Supervisory position.
n.    APICS Certification’s like CSCP, CPIM will be an advantage
o.    SAP experience will be an advantage
p.    Fluent spoken and written in Japanese and English.


l.    Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with various disciplines within the business
m.    Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making, influencing skills
n.    Proven ability to drive compliance in an automated supply chain planning process
o.    Experience with supply chain and demand planning software applications  

p.    Required for experienced in people management and planning
