Job Title: Telecom Engineer

Job Location: Meguro Tokyo, Japan

Report to: Head of IT Japan

Direct reports: 0 (Single contributor)

 

Job Responsibilities:
This is a technical engineer role to provide the unified communication and call center service to the company’s employees.

The location is in Japan and the role will focus on Japan, and at the same time work for APAC and other regions together with engineers in global IT.

This role is responsible to understand busines requirements and deliver projects with the company’s internal standard design and process.

To maintain and improve the telecom infrastructure more reliable, scalable, and capable, provision Telecom infrastructure and documentation.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 50% Administration tasks and troubleshooting
  • 50% Project delivery

 

Accountabilities:

  • Review and evaluate requests from engineers and tele carrier for system modifications
  • Estimate costs for system or component implementation and operation
  • Prepare system activity and performance reports
  • Supervise maintenance of telecoms equipment
  • Develop, maintain, or implement telecommunications disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
  • Test and evaluate hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, or compatibility with existing systems
  • Provide user support by device and tools problems and implementing technical or procedural solutions
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for hardware and software, telecommunications equipment, test equipment, cabling, or tools
  • Documents and Diagrams technical specifications and operating standards for telecommunications equipment
  • Order or maintain inventory of telecommunications equipment of telephone sets
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, such as traffic and capacity
  • Manage user access to systems and equipment through account management and password administration
  • Instruct in use of voice communications systems, such as voicemail and videoconferencing systems
  • Inspect sites to determine physical configuration, such as device locations and conduit pathways
  • Implement system renovation projects in collaboration with technical staff, engineering consultants, installers, and vendors
  • Implement or perform preventive maintenance, backup, or recovery procedures
  • Consult with users, administrators, and engineers to identify business and technical requirements for proposed system modifications or technology purchases
  • Assess existing facilities' needs for new or modified telecommunications systems
  • Communicate with telecommunications vendors to obtain pricing and technical specifications for available hardware, software, or services
  • Install, or coordinate installation of, new or modified hardware, software, or programming modules of telecommunications systems.

  • 5+ years managing Telecom Infrastructure related projects (Required)

  • 5+ years of experience working in international and diversified organization (Required)

 

Certification

  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • Valid Driver’s license (Required)

 

Language

- Business-level Japanese speaker (Required)

- Business-level English speaker (Required)

- Strong English abilities to discuss, negotiate, and persuade with stakeholders in global teleconference (Desired)
