Your Role:
Join our Launch Program! You will work part-time as a Launch Program – Maintenance Technician 1 while receiving tuition support to simultaneously attend school full time, at any participating school designated by the company. Using this innovative model, you will be trained and developed by industry professionals and have the ability to apply your education in real-time while building towards a potential full-time career with us!
At MilliporeSigma, the Launch Program - Maintenance Technician/Glassblower Intern position is responsible for safely performing a highly diversified range of duties related to the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production glassware and production and facility equipment in both a predictive and reactive manner so as to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
**All functions to be performed with supervision and guidance from supervisor and or other maintenance technicians.
- Install and maintain production machines and facility equipment
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment as necessary
- Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs of production equipment during scheduled downtime
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
- Utilize skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, to facilitate the troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities
- Perform a variety of plumbing, maintenance, and carpentry functions
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Detect faulty operations, defective material, and other potential risks to reliability and/or quality and report elevate or address as necessary
- Complete assigned glassblowing training exercises and repair / fabrication tasks
- Complete all assigned training in a timely matter
- Comply with all safety procedures and regulations
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas
Physical Attributes/Environmental Conditions:
- Extreme heat or cold (may be required to work outside for extended periods at all times of year and in all types of weather)
- Lift up to 50lbs. Large weights with mechanical assistance
- Noise levels in excess of 70dB (PPE provided)
- Heights
- Electricity
- Lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, etc.
- Cleaning fluids normally used in custodial duties
- Paints and solvents
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- No experience necessary, but less than 2 years of industry experience
- A 1st year college student looking to work part-time while finishing your degree. You are a driven individual, with the willingness to learn and develop in an industry and classroom setting.
- Willingness to enroll in local participating college, trade school, or 2- year college designated by the company for Spring 2025 semester
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to read instructions and understand oral and written instructions
- Ability to learn SOP's/UOP's, cleaning protocols, work, and conduct rules
- Ability to learn to use safety equipment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Results driven and ability to take initiative
