Your Role:
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join our company as Distribution Operations Associate! In this role, you will interact with the WMS, TMS, RF scanning and/or other warehouse equipment to perform distribution tasks in accordance with defined job processes. This core role will encompass tasks with a focus on safety, quality and productivity.
Duties will include and be assigned as follows:
- Loading and unloading freight
- Putting product away using scanner or computer system
- Selecting and putting away material using narrow aisle, wire guided machines (this includes use of “operator up” machines and other powered industrial trucks)
- Operating required equipment to produce documents for workload
- Locating, moving, delivering or returning all required materials to proper areas
- Preparing materials for shipment
- Accurately documenting all movement of materials
- Auditing inventory locations to maintain inventory and location accuracy
- Following procedures to complete full location audits
- Verifying chemicals, catalog number, lot number, special requests information, unit size and weights against order documentation found in packing instructions
- Printing and applying all required labels and markings to box to comply with hazardous materials regulations
- Condensing, straightening, and maintaining warehouse areas
- Working with team leads and supervisors to troubleshoot systems issues
- Assisting with training new employees
- Reporting unsafe or potentially unsafe hazards to team leads or any member of management
- Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned
- Operating both powered and material handling equipment in a safe manner
- Receiving material from outside vendors
- Packing hazardous items for shipment to customer
- Scanning or metering product into the shipping system
- Packing the material and following established procedures and instructions while complying with hazard regulations
- Preparing materials for shipment, verifying that all the appropriate markings and labels are present all packages to comply with company procedures and DOT, IATA, and IMO regulations, making corrections when necessary
- Selecting orders for processing
- Exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule
- Processing a 2-step goods receipt
- Processing canning of material
- Scheduling dock appointments for carriers
- Communicating with Procurement any discrepancies or product issues
- Processing CONF orders for shipment
- Communicates with Customer Interface Departments on shipping issues, expedites priorities
- Preparing hazardous shipping documentation
- Maintaining record of orders
- Must follow all good distribution practices (GDP), where applicable
Physical Attributes:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, and crouch, and be able to stay on your feet for eight hours.
- The employee must be able to talk, hear, and smell.
- The employee must be able lift and/or move up to 75 pounds unassisted. Employee may be required to move more than 75 pounds with assistance. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work in cold room environments.
- Regularly uses phones, computers, computer monitors and all office equipment. The employee is also required to type at a computer keyboard and have the ability to read CRTs/computer monitors.
- Environmental Conditions of this role are working near moving mechanical parts (Conveyors, powered industrial vehicles). Required to wear appropriate protective equipment including gloves and safety glasses.
- Working conditions of this role will include both controlled and non-controlled climate environments.
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualification:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year work experience
- Shipping regulation knowledge or experience
- Experience with hazardous materials
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with all levels of staff both orally and written
- Ability to work in a group setting
- Ability to operate PCs, scanners, printers, CRTs, shipping equipment (meters, tape machines, etc) and various cutting instruments
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
- Ability to understand basic shipping regulations
- Ability work quickly and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Pay Range for this position - $17-$27/hour
