Job Purpose:
This position is focused on identifying and developing a multi-faceted local communications strategy for our global business franchise, as well as driving the plan and execution of company level employee communication programs in line with the company’s broader business strategic objectives. The plan and execution should link to the global franchise communications strategy to inspire, inform and influence, with a clear impact on our local business strategies.
On a basic and broad level, this role incorporates strong strategic insights with a hands-on independent content shaping, expertise and insights in engaging employees on company business strategies and priorities, wide strategic reputational expertise, social media experience and skills, and the passion and ability to draw on global collaboration.
Your role:
Work closely with the Head of Healthcare Communications in China, and communicators across sectors, geographies and disease areas as a strategic communications partner to align communication with business priorities and activities on areas of highest impact.
1. Lead, develop, and implement franchise-level external and internal communications strategies and programs as a way to support local business leaders as well as global communication community in order to cut through the noise to meaningfully capture attention and generate brand reach, awareness and impact to drive our business growth:
- Generate high quality content including but not limited to executive speeches and presentations
- Develop product-specific communications strategies and programs
- Disease awareness initiatives
- Key influencer engagement programs
- Media interviews
- Crisis communications plan and execution
- Company and product-level events (executive visits, company events, Town Hall meetings, etc.)
- Internal communication initiatives and programs to enhance employee engagemen
2. Work with other communications colleagues within China and across geographies to build company brand in the healthcare sector, shape global strategy that can be replicated across emerging markets
- Deliver consistent messaging, developed globally, deployed locally that secure the company’s position as a specialist global innovator, which specifically achieves across countries, regions and at global level
- Interaction with the international community and to inspire across globe with best practices
- Drive media engagement on a corporate and product level to enhance visibility of corporate brand
- Design, co-create, and execute on strategic comms plan fully in line with global franchise brand
- Support global initiatives’ local landing (but not limited to franchise specific programs)
- Ongoing development of company materials and key message
3. Oversee company’s employee communications programs, including:
- Executive message to employees
- Employee engagement campaigns
- Townhall meetings, coffee hours
- Setting key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns and measuring a campaign’s performance against the KPIs
Who you are:
- Master or Bachelor Degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, Language, or equivalent background
- Minimum 7 years of communications experience in a corporate/agency environment
- Substantial media relations experience with both general media and trade media
- Independent writer with passion and top-notch quality output; excellent writing, editing, copywriting, consolidation, and proofreading skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with, advise and influence senior executives
- Able to manage and lead people with indirect authority, while being a team player with superb interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to develop and execute results-driven communications strategies that are aligned with business goals, with a strong sense of ownership and result-orientation
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines, work independently under pressure, to handle ad-hoc situations, and to handle multiple priorities
- Self-starter with a can-do attitude, capable of content generation, problem solving and value creation through novel approaches
- High agility and accessibility
- Strong tactical and analytical/strategic skills, hands-on, high energy, and highly proactive
- Good command of written and spoken English. Passionate, versatile and flexible cross-cultural communications skills able to collaborate and operate in a global environment; able to elucidate and represent China within the broader global conversation, and to create communications strategies that address the unique needs and circumstances of the China market
