Your Role:
- To achieve the objectives of the China Digital & Innovation strategy by finding, evaluating and executing high-value business partnerships with companies operating in Life Science, Electronics and Digital & Innovation;
- To maintain and further develop business partnerships with current partners in China.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- To develop a Business Development strategy in alignment with China Country Council, Regional/Global BD leadership and fellow BD Director across all of company’s focus areas of Digital Innovation, Sustainability and Elderly Care.
- Proactive lead identification of external opportunities in China through formal and informal networks both within and outside the company that are aligned with strategy.
- Align with key stakeholders to evaluate, move forward and complete partnering opportunities. Negotiate and finalize agreements together with business sectors or enabling functions.
- Support of handover of partnership to business sectors or enabling functions.
- Build a strong network with key opinion leaders, centers of excellence, biotech and biopharma companies, science & technology companies in China
- Develop thorough understanding and landscaping of competitive environment for areas of strategic focus and identify new engagement models and emerging technologies/modalities that are in line strategic focal areas
- Deal types may range the spectrum of commercial partnering, from exclusive licensing to co-commercialization, co-development to product acquisitions with a primary focus towards business solutions to sector priorities for innovation and localization, and as second priority technology capabilities build for China and with China for global.
Who You Are:
Education & Language
- Scientific background is nice to have but not mandatory;
- Fluent in English and mandarin (writing and speaking).
Professional Skills & Experience
- Minimum 6 years of Business development, Licensing or other deal-making;
- Experience in Digital/Technology, Smart Manufacturing, Life Science or Electronics industry, investment banking or Private Equity;
- Track record of identifying, leading and completing high-impact deals;
- Experience working in, executing deals or managing complex projects in China also involving internal matrix alignment.
