Your role:

Through constantly developing and continually growing your understanding in our business activities, products, competitors, and markets, you will be acting as a strategic partner for our business. You will apply expertise in China tech IP law (patent, trade secret, and so on) trends, legislations, case laws, administrative regulations etc. to counsel both key internal business partners and global patent peers.

You will work with colleagues across geographies and functions of global organization, including peer patent counsels, legal counsels, R&D inventors, business stake holders etc. Reviewing invention disclosures to Identify patentable inventions as well as preparing and prosecuting patent applications independently or collaborate with outside counsels is an important aspect of the position. You will also support business organic growth through formatting patent protection plan and craft patent dispute resolution strategies.  You will also counsel business development team on IP landscaping analysis and freedom to operate assessments.

Furthermore, you will conduct IP reviews of a wide range of agreements (joint development agreements etc.) and provide IP negotiation support for business development activities. You will also have the exposure to M&A transactions and perform IP due diligence analysis.

Additionally, you provide tailored IP training to business team at various roles and levels, to raise the IP awareness, build basic IP knowledge and skills of the organization.

Who you are:

• BS in chemistry related area, MS or PhD preferred, or other technical background with  proven good knowledge of chemistry. Experience working in the OLED, Liquid crystal, semiconductor materials industry is a plus.
• 3+ years working experiences in a multinational environment, or in a reputable law firm, or as examiner in the patent office
• Chinese Patent Bar is mandatory, PRC law bar preferred, foreign patent law knowledge or qualification is a plus.
• Practical patent skills, including part of whole range of prosecution, invalidation/reexamination proceeding, technical agreements review, infringement suit, freedom to operate analysis, or is highly motivated to expand current scope of expertise
• Intercultural sensitivity paired with a strong team spirit
• Self-motivated and efficient working style, good business acumen
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is a must
