The Project Manager for a Capital Project in China/APAC will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a large-scale fine chemical capital investment project. The candidate must have a proven track record in managing substantial projects in the chemicals industry, ensuring successful execution while meeting scope, budget, safety, and timeline targets. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards is a plus. This role requires a strategic leader who can manage complex teams, ensure compliance with local and international standards, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

 

Your Role:

- Project Planning & Execution: Lead the development and execution of detailed project plans for a large-scale capital project in the fine chemicals sector, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.

- Team Leadership: Direct and oversee cross-functional project teams, including engineering, construction, procurement, and safety, to ensure seamless project execution.

- Large-Scale Project Management: Utilize experience in managing large-scale projects to effectively coordinate and oversee project phases, from feasibility and design to commissioning and closeout.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure smooth project delivery and compliance with local regulations.

- Regulatory Compliance & GMP Understanding: Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental, and construction regulations. Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is highly desirable.

- Budget & Financial Oversight: Control project budget, monitor expenses, and ensure cost-efficient procurement and contract management.

- Risk Management**: Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure that all team members are aware of contingency plans.

- **Sustainability & Safety: Promote safety as a core value and ensure that the project adheres to both sustainability and safety protocols.

- Reporting & Documentation: Provide detailed project updates to senior management, including progress reports, financial performance, risk assessments, and any necessary adjustments to the project plan.

- Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive project efficiency and quality.

 

Who You Are:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are a plus.

- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience managing large-scale capital projects in the fine chemicals industry

- Proven track record of delivering projects above Euro 50M and within budget, scope, and timelines.

- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a fine chemical or related industry is advantageous.

- Experience working in China or with Chinese regulatory and construction environments is preferred.

- Fluent in English and Mandarin (must).
