ETCC is an integrated technology center with analytical technology, process technology and application capabilities that serves the semiconductor customers in China. The analytical lab is responsible for addressing customer quality troubleshooting requests, validating raw materials, conducting analytical verification for new product development, developing new testing methods, and comparing data across different laboratories.

This role will support the expansion of the ICP-MS laboratory, including the effective operation of a new ICP-MS instrument, and will provide analytical testing support for  slurry, thin film, specialty gas, photoresist products.

The candidate should be responsible for performing accurate and reliable elemental analysis, preparing and evaluating samples, troubleshooting analytical issues, maintaining laboratory instruments and databases, and communicating effectively with global technical and business teams. The role requires strong technical expertise, a high level of ownership, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Support the analytical testing needs by assigning appropriate testing activities across the two ICP-MS instruments.
  2. Independently develop, optimize, and validate new elemental analysis methods for challenging matrices, such as moisture/oxygen-sensitive materials, high-matrix samples, and complex organic-phase materials, identifying and eliminating interference sources.
  3. Evaluate sample preparation procedures and improve them where necessary to achieve reliable recovery, precision, and accuracy.
  4. Prepare clear, accurate, and timely laboratory testing reports and technical summaries. Maintain accurate sample records, instrument records, test results, and laboratory databases. Ensure data integrity, traceability, and appropriate documentation throughout the testing process.
  5. Safely handle and store hazardous chemicals and reagents (e.g., acids, corrosive or toxic substances) in accordance with hazardous materials handling protocols and site EHS requirements.
  6. Support Ion Chromatography (IC) testing for anion/cation analysis; prior experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) is a plus and may be leveraged to expand testing capabilities.
  7. Maintain the ICP-MS and IC instruments and the broader laboratory environment in good working order, including routine maintenance, calibration, and coordination of third-party service/repairs to ensure smooth day-to-day laboratory operations.
  8. Comply with EHS and Quality Management System (e.g., ISO 9001) requirements, and actively contribute to laboratory safety practices and QMS documentation.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  2. Good understanding of ICP-MS principles, detection limits, contamination sources.
  3. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple testing requests, and deliver results within agreed timelines.
  4. 3+ years of hands-on elemental analysis experience, ideally in the semiconductor materials, electronic chemicals, or specialty chemicals industry.
  5. Familiarity with the physical and chemical properties of semiconductor materials (thin films, polishing slurries, specialty gases, photoresists) and their common analytical challenges.
  6. Practical experience handling hazardous chemicals and samples with special chemical properties (moisture/oxygen sensitivity, high matrices, complex organic phases).
  7. Good English communication skills (spoken and written), sufficient to communicate effectively with overseas teams and customers in an international company environment.
