You will be leading the next generation of precursor thin film materials to drive innovation in the digital age. There are multiple positions available for a Site Quality Manager, which will require the management of product quality across two sites within proximity (less than 1 hour). This position will be located on-site in South Korea at a Merck Thin Films site: either Banwol/Sihwa or Eumseong/Daejeon.

Your Role:

• Manage a team of quality engineers in the execution and quality assurance of thin film materials at the Banwol/Sihwa or Eumseong/Daejeon sites for major semiconductor customers globally.
• Lead cross-functional teams in resolving technological issues.
• Conduct investigations to determine root causes and manage cross-functional teams in implementing preventative, corrective, or mitigation actions to ensure world-class quality.
• Act as the voice of the customer to the sites (Banwol/Sihwa or Eumseong/Daejeon).
• Be accountable to the business for maintaining thin film quality performance and driving continuous improvement at the sites by fostering collaboration with site and global functional groups.
• Ensure adherence to process control tools (e.g., SPC reviews) to maintain quality, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and reduce variation.
• Identify and enable automation activities to facilitate faster decision-making and improve visibility of unknown variables/issues.
• Serve as a key voting member to disposition discrepant materials, identify gaps in processes, and manage cross-functional teams to implement controls that prevent/reduce variation.
• Lead and/or delegate quality-related audits at the sites.
• Contribute to and support the advancement of global quality-related projects, process improvements using Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies, and internal/customer-related data-driven process optimization projects (e.g., Project BOOST). Engage in cross-site sharing within and outside of Korea.
• Foster a quality culture, structure, and activities at both sites.
• Identify, assess, and recommend risk mitigation actions to prevent negative impacts on business financials, quality, commitments to customers, and internal goals.
• Support new product introductions by leading risk assessments and ensuring that process controls are in place to prevent escapes to customers.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or another technical discipline.
• 5 years or more of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, control engineering, analytical chemistry, or semiconductor fabrication.
• Must be a native Korean speaker with excellent oral and written English skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to motivate others and work collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders.
• Proven success in contributing to the advancement of projects, project teams, and process improvements.
• Demonstrated experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma projects or in data-driven process optimization projects.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple activities and projects.
• Moderate to advanced statistical knowledge (SPC, t-tests, ANOVA, single and multivariate statistical modeling).
• Experience with quality tools for problem-solving (5 Whys, segmentation, Model Based Problem Solving), FMEAs, continuous improvement (CI) activities, management of change, and document control systems.
• Proficiency in data science/statistical software, including JMP, Palantir Foundry, Python, and/or visualization tools such as Tableau.
• Experience with process improvement, data automation, and data digitization.
• Excellent communication skills—oral and written.
• Ability to work with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
• Experience within the electronics industry (preferably in semiconductors).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 Internal Auditor Certification.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with SAP.
