HR Business Data Steward:

Your Role

Data is at the heart of every great people decision, and in this role, you will be the guardian of that data. As an HR Business Data Steward, you will ensure the quality, consistency, and integrity of employee data across HR systems and connected downstream applications. You will define data standards, manage data cataloguing and lineage, drive data quality improvements, and act as a trusted partner to data owners, process experts, and business stakeholders. Your work directly enables better workforce insights and more reliable HR operations across the organization.

Who You Are

Education:

  • You bring 2 to 4+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, or HR data management, with hands on exposure to HR systems and downstream data consumers.
  • You have a solid understanding of data governance concepts, including data quality, metadata, catalogues, lineage, and retention, and are familiar with HR data domains such as employee and organizational data, payroll, compensation, learning, talent acquisition, and skills data.
  • You have functional knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and a strong grasp of HR data operations and processes.
  • You are skilled at root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA), with the ability to monitor, measure, and improve data quality metrics such as completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency, and integrity.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently, translating complex data concepts into plain business language for diverse stakeholders, and facilitating data governance working groups with ease.
  • You take a multi system perspective, ensuring data consistency across HR platforms and downstream processes including payroll, benefits, analytics, finance, IT, and ERP or HR information system integrations.
  • You hold a degree in Human Resources, Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or bring equivalent professional experience.
  • You are AI literate: you understand how artificial intelligence technologies work, can assess their practical applications and limitations in an HR context, and apply ethical considerations around bias, fairness, data privacy, and governance when engaging with AI driven tools and decisions.

Preferred skills and capabilities

  • Collaboration: Strong ability to engage with data owners, domain experts, process leads, and SMEs; effective facilitation and collaboration.
  • Analytical thinking: Problem-solving mindset with ability to perform root-cause analysis and data quality remediation.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication; ability to translate data concepts into business terms.
  • Influence and adaptability: Comfortable driving improvements and adapting to evolving regulatory/business needs.
  • Attention to detail: Precise in documenting business rules, quality thresholds, and data definitions.
  • Multisystem perspective: Experience ensuring data consistency across HR systems and downstream processes (e.g., payroll, benefits, analytics, Finance, IT, ERP/HRIS integrations).
