As Head of Procurement IT Solutioning, you will manage a business-facing Information Technology global team. You will manage the design, build, deployment and post go-live support of SAP ERP-related projects worldwide for Direct Procurement. You will actively participate in global ERP / Digitalization initiatives, establishing close relationship with Business Owners (Supply Chain of each Business Sector, Procurement, Merck Business Services) to understand strategies and priorities.

In this role, you will give direction to global projects related to your area as a member of the ERP Program Steering Committees and manage business process architects' capacity with internal and external resources, being a counterpart for your area to program PMOs and implementation partners. You will nominate Business Architects as Process Experts to global ERP / Digitalization initiatives and Business Process Designers, ensuring delivery in key activities like requirements gathering, testing, training, master data migration, cutover and hyper-care.

For live subsidiaries, you will manage process governance for several ERP systems, discussing and deciding on change requests with Business Owners, as well as proposing process improvement initiatives, including key user management. You will also drive continuous business process improvements and related data quality by measuring process performance. You will proactively handle the growth and development of your team, setting objectives and priorities for the Business Architects.

Experience & Expertise required:

• 10+ years of experience with SAP ERP for advanced Pharmaceutical / Chemical processes with 5+ years of managerial experience
• Success track as a lead SAP consultant with in-depth purchasing knowledge through hands-on project deployment
• Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the SAP Purchasing processes, as well as the applicable regulations
• Deep understanding of the respective modules in SAP, particularly MM-PUR and MM-IM, in several SAP versions, incl. S4/HANA
• Knowledge of complex supply chain / logistics processes and their integration with Manufacturing (e.g., subcontracting, CMO, TM/EWM, intercompany STO), master data management for Procurement (including the interrelation with MDG-S)
• Robust understanding of the integration of procurement processes in the overall process landscape, both from a technical point of view, as well as from a business perspective
• Hands-on experience with different project methodologies (e.g., Agile) and tools (e.g., HPALM, JIRA)
• Additional knowledge of other SAP modules (e.g., FI/CO) and/or other languages, especially German is an added advantage.

Travel / other requirements:  

• Willing to travel 25% of your time depending on project phase (and regulations/policies)
• Proficient in English, have very good communication skills and solid abilities to teach others
