As Senior Communication Expert-IT, your role is to develop strategies to increase the visibility of IT and IT leadership within Merck businesses, improve the IT organization’s image, increase employee engagement, and foster high-impact culture within IT.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Establish the IT department’s credibility among the company’s 52,000+ global employees and major business stakeholders.
- Boost the communications presence of IT and its Leadership Team.
- Design and implement a holistic internal engagement strategy, including metrics to measure effectiveness.
- Manage internal communication campaigns from concept to delivery. Design, implement and evaluate targeted, multi-level content and campaigns for the purpose of informing, motivating and inspiring employees.
- Deliver content and campaigns through appropriate internal channels (e.g. intranet, blogs, videos, podcasts, newsletters, email bulletins, chat messaging etc.)
- Lead review and critical evaluation of existing internal channels and make sound recommendations for improvement, in close collaboration with technology colleagues, to ensure up-to-date inclusion of existing and emerging new channels, tools and technologies (e.g. AI),
- Provide strategic advice and expertise when collaborating with other functions to support them in timely functional updates, information- and knowledge-sharing across departments and the whole organization.
- Keep staff proactively up to date on global activities, projects, programs, and initiatives.
- Proactively interact with people managers to support them in their efforts to build and strengthen motivation and engagement in their teams.
- Interact with employees to listen and serve as their voice, sourcing quotes, success stories and other narratives for sharing purposes across the organization.
- Plan and deliver global and local employee events (e.g. townhalls, senior leadership visits)
Your Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• Advanced degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Proficiency with communication technologies.
- Experience in stakeholder management and community engagement.
- Clear and concise communication with the Leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing.
- Strong verbal, written, organization and presentation skills.
- Ability to provide creative solutions to problems.
- Excellent project management skills; strong eye and editing skills; attention to detail.
- Event planning experience preferable.
