Your Role

As a Senior Database Engineer with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and OpenSearch / Elasticsearch, you will be part of the Data & AI Solutions - Engineering team in our Healthcare R&D business. Your expertise will impact the end-to-end lifecycle of AWS-Cloud based platforms & other products in the Data & AI space, contributing to the overall success of our R&D efforts in discovery and development of new drugs. 

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems to support high-volume, high-velocity data workflows. You will leverage your expertise to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of our data storage solutions as well as maintain high standards of data quality and integrity. Your role will involve developing and optimizing database schemas, writing complex queries, and implementing indexing and caching strategies to enhance data retrieval speeds and transaction processing. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database services into our broader system architectures and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.

Your contributions will be pivotal in driving the continuous improvement of our data management practices, supporting the delivery of actionable insights and robust data-driven solutions.

You will join a multicultural team working in agile methodologies and having high autonomy in decision-making. The role requires office presence at our Bangalore location.

Who You Are:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 
• 5+ years' experience working in a related field.
• Strong understanding of database management principles and best practices
• Proficiency in working with both SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (OpenSearch & Elasticsearch) databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure
• Ability to deploy, monitor and optimize database performance, manage indexes, and fine-tune queries.
• Knowledge of database backup and recovery processes in a cloud environment.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and automation tools for database maintenance and management.
• Familiarity with R and SAS is beneficial, particularly for data analysis and statistical modeling tasks
• Willingness to work in a multinational environment and cross-functional teams distributed between US, Europe (mostly, Germany) and India 
• Sense of accountability and ownership, fast learner 
• Having experience in regulated environment is a plus (GxP) 
• Fluency in English &excellent communication skills
