Your Role

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join OT team Life Science as an OT Engineer. You will be the point of contact between local operations, sector OT and IT (local, sector and global). In this role you will be managing or supervising physical equipment installations and commissioning and play a crucial role in our vision of a connected plant. You will make sure equipment follows the latest requirements of smart manufacturing and digital operations and enable digital value creation. For brownfield equipment you will make sure to create migration plans and roadmaps to address cybersecurity and connectivity challenges.

You will support the modernization of OT infrastructure by migrating legacy systems to advanced digital platforms and integrating key OT systems like SCADA, DCS, Data historians, LIMS, and others.

 

Key responsibilities are:

  • Implement global OT technology strategy, standards and architecture
  • Translate OT solution design into software/hardware code/configuration
  • Manage OT system incidents and drive their solution, coordinate IT on patching
  • Execute cybersecurity activities on OT systems such as access management and patching
  • Support or manage IT/OT asset management
  • Manage the OT system service continuity by running disaster recovery exercises
  • The role is key to move towards the connected plant ambition while driving standardization throughout all deployed solutions.

 

Who Are you

  • Graduate degree, bachelor degree or experienced technician in industrial automation (or equivalent)
  • Some years (ideally 5+) of experience in OT (manufacturing required, lab optional) 
  • Some years (ideally 5+) of experience in integration of OT systems to IT infrastructure
  • Entry level position possible
  • Hands-on experience in corporate IT/OT technology and architecture management
  • Hands-on experience in IT/OT maintenance and service
  • Domain Knowledge in:
    • Manufacturing: Understanding of industrial processes, machinery, and control systems
    • OT Systems: Including IO, PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, Historians and MES/EBR
    • Industrial Networks: Fieldbus protocols, network architecture principles, ISA-99
    • IT/OT Convergence: Expertise in integrating OT systems into IT infrastructure
    • Security: Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial environments
    • Compliance: Understanding of industry regulations and compliance standards related to OT
  • Experience in GxP environments beneficial
  • Ability to interact with management in a matrix organization
  • Problem solving capabilities including project and time management
  • German conversational and business-fluent English skills
