A new vacancy is now open for a Production Planning Lead.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Production Planning, the Production Planning Lead will prepare production and capacity plans for annual Operation and Financial planning cycles, and quarterly Production, Supply & Inventory planning.The Production Planning Lead will lead a team of Planners & Buyers who translate customer demand to weekly production schedules and ensure purchased material is available to support plans. They will ensure that service and inventory metrics are achieved. They will workd as part of the leadership team for the business they support and represent the requirements of the external customer.
Duties
• Translating Demand forecasts into Production Plans and Schedules taking Customer and forecasted requirements as well as Key Capacity constraints into account. Identify potential gaps and agree mitigation with Production and Supply Network Planning.
• Manage Buyers to ensure Purchase Orders are placed with Suppliers in a timely and efficient manner to optimize inventory management while ensuring there are no raw material related production delays.
• Manage a high-performance team of self-directed supply chain professionals; provide leadership and mentoring to achieve defined objectives.
• Sustain the accuracy of Cork Planning Data with regular measurement of accuracy.
• Compile supply and backorder projections in event of supply risks.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and take ownership for the implementation of improvements within the planning area.
• Use analysis skills to immediately resolve issues and perform root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurrence.
• Partner with Analysts to develop reports and scenario models that mitigate risks and create valuable business knowledge.
• Champion a culture of Better Decision Making based on sound data and advanced analytics.
• Maintaining and monitoring the Planning and Scheduling systems (SAP APO & related planning databases).
• Supporting long term capacity planning through analysing and updating long range demand data.
• Attend and present supply data for monthly site Operations Review.
• Attend daily Tier 3 management meetings with production leadership team.
• Support & present data during monthly Supply Reviews with business partners.
• Drive input from Sales, Marketing and Product Management to improve global supply chain efficiency and service via S&OP structure.
• Monitor and drive actions related to raw material changes.
• Identifying and resolving all inquiries and problems (or delegate accordingly)
• Work cross functionally with QC, P&T and Production Supervisors/Managers to resolve supply issues.
• Weekly reporting on key updates from Production Planning.
• Monitor the flow of materials from raw Materials to finished goods (Warehouse , Production, QC, Packaging, Supply Chain)
• Identifying trends and propose solutions to new or ongoing Supply Chain issues.
• Coordinating cross functional activities to achieve targeted service levels.
• Maintaining and monitoring work performance of direct reports.
• Ensure all Direct Report have effective IDP’s ( individual Development Plans)
• Participating in new hire interviews and effectively evaluate potential candidates.
• Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned by the Head of Production Planning SLS Core.
Who You Are
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or related field.
• Supply Chain certification is beneficial.
• 5-9 years of supply chain or planning experience.
• SAP experience desired.
• Leadership experience.
• Proven ability to develop, implement and work with complex system planning and forecasting systems.
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
• Exceptional skills in all planning process disciplines including Sales & Operations Planning, Finite Scheduling and Forecasting.
• Proven ability to develop planning strategies and implement them in a complex global, technical, matrixed environment.
• Good leadership, change management, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse, global environment while adhering to the highest ethical standards.
• Knowledge of process improvement
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to teach others these techniques.
• Ability to mentor and develop others.
