The Role

Reporting to the Process & Technology Manager, the Mould Tooling Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and sustaining optimum molding processes for the manufacturing of regulated molded components.  The role will provide technical / project management support for the introduction of new molding equipment and processes to site. It will also provide technical support for processing issue or changes on existing moulding processes.

Duties:

•    Moulding/Tooling lead for new product introduction to Cork Manufacturing Operations, Project Management lead depending on project responsibilities, scope and complexity.
•    In conjunction with Project Leads for various capital projects - project manage / co-ordinate key activities related to new moulding machines / mould tools and auxiliary equipment.
•    Initiate equipment and mould User Requirement Specifications, vendor selection, requests for quotation and equipment/ mould build, management of same depends on project responsibilities, scope and complexity
•    Participate in design reviews and FAT of new moulding equipment and tooling working in conjunction with the Project Leads.
•    Prepare complete and accurate records/documentation of assigned project activities in line with the Quality System and Validation Guidelines.
•    Support and/ or lead technology improvements that advance our molding processes for new and existing products, in conjunction with the Maintenance group.
•    Process optimization using latest molding techniques / principles (eg. Scientific Molding).
•    Troubleshoot molding / manufacturing processes to mitigate production defects.
•    Conduct feasibility trials/process DOE’s to determine appropriate/robust process windows.
•    Ensures new processes are designed for manufacture, automated, innovative, cost effective and meet all Quality and EHS regulatory requirements

•    Manages and executes production equipment transfer into Cork, takes a hands-on lead role in activities required to achieve Commercialization 
-Installation – executes IQ & OQ 
-Completes training – Engineers, technicians and operators
-Documentation – drafts and executes validation protocols under guidance from QA, -SOPs etc. 
-Trouble shooting & problem solving
-Demonstrates Manufacturability
-Executes PQ under guidance from QA

•    Supports production, process optimization, scale up production and handover to production

•    Ensure compliance with GMP and Safety requirements on new and existing equipment.

Who You Are

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Polymer and/or Polymer Process Engineering or Mould Tooling related education.
•    Advanced training in plastic injection molding processing essential.  RJG Master Molder certification (or other scientific molding certification) preferable
•    8+ years of hands-on engineering experience in high volume Injection Molding facility.
•    Working knowledge of the following preferrable:
-Medical Device experience 
-Working knowledge of Validation processes (IQ/OQ/PQ)
-Robot programming, hot runner molds, tooling issue diagnostics, molding machine diagnostics, central material handling systems and color blending.
-Processing knowledge of a wide range of engineering grade resins.
-Ability to read and interpret part and mold drawings.
-Up-to-date knowledge of injection molding machine technology and capabilities.
-Minitab/ Lean 6 Sigma techniques
-AutoCAD

•    Good stakeholder management skills across all levels
