Your Role:

Within New Chemical Entities Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (NCE DMPK), the preclinical Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Expert is a scientific and strategic role in pharmaceutical Research. You will collaborate with other passionate functional experts to bring life-changing therapeutics to patients. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering PK and PK/PD modelling to enable the optimization and selection of drug candidates in preclinical projects of various modalities, including small molecules, PROTACs as well as antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). You will devise the PK/PD strategy and use M&S to support the design of in-vivo pharmacology and toxicology studies. You will predict human PK characteristics of drug candidates to estimate human efficacious exposure and dose. Quantitative predictions of drug-drug-interactions of candidate molecules employing physiology based pharmacokinetic modelling is also within the scope of the role.

In this role, you represent NCE-DMPK ensuring proper flow of information between the function, project teams, key stakeholders and governance bodies. You will contribute to scientific initiatives designed to improve M&S capabilities within our drug discovery organization and the interface to clinical pharmacology.

The role is located in Darmstadt (Germany) and reports to the Global Head of NCE-DMPK.

 

Who you are: 

• Ph.D./Post-Doc in either Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline plus ≥3 years relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnological industry or Master’s degree with ≥7 years relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnological industry

• Comprehensive understanding of the concepts of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, drug-drug-interaction risk assessment.

• Strong hands-on experience with modeling software (such as: Phoenix/WinNonlin, MatLab, R, NONMEM, Monolix etc).

• Experience with the application of PBPK models to support drug discovery projects (such as Simcyp, Gastroplus, PK-Sim)

• Good understanding of related disciplines (pharmacology, toxicology, bioanalytics, etc.)

• Fluent spoken and written English, German is a plus.

• Excellent presentation & communication skills
