Your role: Your daily work will focus on handling UV filters within cosmetic formulations to enhance SPF protection while ensuring appealing haptics. You will be responsible for developing new, natural, and attractive formulations that position our UV portfolio in conjunction with active ingredients and color components.
As a Formulation Expert (all genders) Cosmetics Actives, Sunscreens and Biocides, reporting to the Laboratory Manager (all genders), you will conduct experimental tests and interpret results related to the performance of UV filters, including their interaction with functional fillers and other ingredients that boost sun protection.

Your daily tasks will involve evaluating properties such as SPF measurement using ISO standard methods, texture, homogeneity, stability, and other functional properties. Familiarity with basic analytical techniques, including rheometer, microscopy, and spectrophotometry, is essential, along with a commitment to advancing objective scientific practices.
This position is based in Rhein-Main area, Industriepark Hoechst and involves frequent collaboration with an international network across the USA, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. The Surface Solutions business unit, a mid-sized multinational leader in the pigments industry, is subject to a planned divestment to the company Global New Materials International (GNMI), headquartered in China, as of August 1st 2025. This role will be part of the divestment.

 

Who you are:

  • Lab technician (m/f) or Bachelor’s in Chemistry/Cosmetic Science or a related field
  • Understanding and interest in Cosmetic Science, Sunscreen expertise
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques for working at the bench with strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical and creative skills
  • Understanding of the principles of product evaluation, physical measurements and consumer testing as it applies to product formulation
  • Fluent English and German language skills
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, interacting with international external partners
  • Presentation skills required
