Your role:

 

As a Project Engineer Automation within the Engineering & Technology team, you are a key pillar for the success for the Life Science Sector, and you will be accountable for planning automation activities in strategic investment projects in Central Europe. This includes the planning from design to execution, including process automation, plant automation and IT/OT integration in terms of: Costs, timelines, quality.

This also includes considering subsequent plant availability, providing technological advice to plant managers and project managers, including new aspects of Industry 4.0 / digitalization, carrying out problem analyses, pay attention to sustainability topics and initiating innovations during the project planning phases.

 

Key duties: 

 

  • Development of concepts, basic and detailed engineering for the area of automation
  • Designing hardware and software for relevant systems from Layer 0 (Electrical Instrumentation) to Layer 2 (e.g., DCS, PLC, S-PLC, etc.) including interfaces to Layer 3 (MES, WMS, etc.)
  • You also have appropriate programming skills in relevant systems (e.g., Siemens PCS7)
  • Execution of global OT cyber security standards (e.g., cyber assessments, implementation projects, development of strategies and roadmaps)
  • Management of automation project teams
  • Adhere to Project Management best practices in Cost, Schedule, Communication, and Governance for the area of automation
  • Strategic, sustainable, and cost-conscious thinking and acting
  • Communication skills and an independent and structured way of working
  • Cooperation with internal and external contacts. This includes commissioning and evaluating offers, awarding contracts and technical and commercial processing with suppliers, as well as collaboration in interdisciplinary project teams
  • Work with digital operations & smart manufacturing team to set up the execution strategies of digitalization, regarding to manufacturing, Warehouse/Distribution Center, and laboratory, and ensure the implementation in different regions and different projects meets the global guidelines
  • Work with Process & Technology team to set up the standards and platforms for process automation and ensure the implementation in the strategic Capex projects meet the project objectives
  • Maintaining internal standards and are responsible for their implementation, as well as compliance with technical regulations and legal provisions (ATEX, GxP, VDE, VbF, TRbF, DIN,...)

Who you are:

  • Technical degree (Master / Dipl.-Ing.) in the field of electrical engineering with focus on automation technology, or comparable
  • Several years of project experience in the processing of automation projects in the pharmaceutical, biotech and chemical industries
  • Experienced in working with interdisciplinary project groups, partly also virtual, thanks to a high degree of flexibility and teamwork skills
  • Experience in commissioning of complex systems with MES and Data Historian
  • Familiar with all kinds of commonly used automation systems, i.e., SCADA, PLC, DCS, etc. and their application in batch or continuous process. (e.g., PCS7), supplemented with skills in IT network system
  • Experience in installation and operation of electrical systems in EX-protected areas
  • Good knowledge of the relevant technical regulations (BetrSichV, VDE/IEC standards) and experience in the application of GMP guidelines
  • You have very good analytical and conceptual skills as well as a high degree of initiative and commitment
  • You are characterized by a quick grasp, a high willingness to learn and strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Willingness to travel
