Your role:
The Strategic Marketing Manager, Small Molecules is responsible for planning and executing the business vision for the Small Molecules Modality within the Life Science Services CDMO Business. You collaborate cross functionally to develop the offer, its value proposition, its positioning and the corresponding go-to-market strategy, including the ownership of content development to support marketing and sales efforts. The Strategic Marketing Manager will be guided by the Bioconjugation & Small Molecules Business Lead and partner closely with the broader marketing team and other Small Molecules Modality team members. You will be a driver of our vision to help biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies take their assets from early clinical stage to the market as quickly as possible.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as a business owner, working with the partners to support the Modality Business Lead in all the necessary activities to ensure the market execution and financial performance of the allocated portfolio of services.
- Identify necessary global market analysis requirements. Conduct, with the support of the Strategy team, assessments on the target market to identify growth opportunities and threats, including voice of customer and competitor analyses. Support Modality strategy development in collaboration with the larger Modality team and Strategy team.
- Track and report on industry trends, identifying measures to expand business and improve competitiveness in the market for the services in scope, including investment and expansion projects.
- Translate the established business strategy into a complete go-to-market strategy. Work with MarCom and Commercial to develop effective campaigns, tactics, and content that help achieve business targets.
- Oversee marketing campaigns in cooperation with the MarCom organization across various channels. Collaborate to develop the most relevant KPIs, evaluate performance in real time, and derive tactical improvements.
- Work with MarCom, Field Marketing, and technical teams to create compelling marketing collateral, thought leadership/technical content, web and presentation content, and messaging that drives increased awareness and generates leads for the business.
- Guide commercial efforts by advising on customer selection based on their fit to defined service offerings and by defining pricing guidance for the allocated portfolio of services
- Co-drive innovation with the R&D and PAD teams, supporting business cases and market rationale behind the projects and aligning on an innovation roadmap that supports the business strategically.
- Partner with PAD and manufacturing sites to support implementation of innovation, understand customer adoption and feedback, and identify opportunities for business growth and improvement of our business and financial performance.
- Establish and maintain a strong collaboration network with internal stakeholders, as well as external partners and key opinion leaders.
Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, business, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in marketing, sales, product management, and/or product development in the life science or pharmaceutical industry
- Understanding of the pre-clinical-to-commercial development process for pharmaceuticals and industry trends in the specific modality field
- Strong presentation, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a matrixed environment and effectively collaborate across functions and geographies
- Ability to travel regionally and internationally up to 20% as required
- Experience using collaborative productivity tools including MS Teams and the Microsoft 365 suite.
- Fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Higher degree in life sciences, chemistry, business, or engineering (Masters / Ph.D.)
- Experience working for a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO)
- Experience developing go-to-market strategies, value propositions, marketing plans, and content
- Experience assessing customer needs, market needs, capability gaps, and competitor capabilities
