Your Role:
As a key member of our veterinary team, you will independently provide essential veterinary medical care while actively implementing preventive medicine programs to ensure the health and well-being of our research animals. Responsibilities include routine health monitoring, import management, quarantine procedures, and diagnostics
You will participate in the veterinary on-call schedule and promote animal welfare by developing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assisting with the AAALAC-accredited use and care program, and preparing for and participating in internal and external audits. Additional duties involve supporting the veterinary pharmacy, training researchers and animal care staff, and assisting researchers with the animal administration database (Ticketlab).
Your contributions will be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence in animal care and welfare within our organization.
Who you are:
- Degree in veterinary medicine eligible to practice in Germany
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine required
- Specialization in laboratory animals is preferred
- Previous expertise with zebrafish is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Initiative, goal-oriented, with exceptional organizational skills; ambitious and stress-resistant
- Fluent in English and German
