We are seeking a highly motivated working student/intern to join our dynamic Bioassay-Automation team within the Discovery Pharmacology Department. The successful candidate will support the continuous integration of automated laboratory systems and optimizing the use of data from cell imaging, proteomics, and other innovative drug discovery methods. The initial project will consist of python/pandas instrument integration as well as data engineering, facilitating live experiment monitoring with the help of a dashboard that integrates data from multiple instruments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate laboratory instruments with lab automation scheduling software to streamline operations and facilitate the generation of high-quality data.
  • Optimize data collection, storage, and retrieval processes to enhance the efficiency of lab operations within the Bioassay Automation Lab.
  • Develop python tools and machine learning models to analyze complex biological data.
  • Implement data visualization tools to present findings clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and optimizing existing digital solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement further lab digitalization and data automation opportunities.

 

Who you are:

 

Minimal Requirements

  • Enrolled as master student in (bio-)informatics, data science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in programing for the automation of computational and experimental workflows (Python, Pandas) with track record of relevant projects or coursework.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Fluent in English (C1); proficiency in German (B2).

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Familiarity with processes and techniques in a biology or chemistry lab.
  • Experience with JSON, particularly in data interchange and configuration tasks.
  • Experience in data visualization tools like Power BI or Spotfire and with Power Automate and Power Apps.
