The Role:
As the Head of Neurology and Immunology (N&I), you will lead the strategic oversight of compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and laws, ensuring the highest standards of drug safety and medical expertise. Your role will involve providing expert medical advice to guarantee the accuracy of data supporting both existing and new product promotions. You will develop comprehensive medical product information, staying abreast of scientific trends and competitive landscapes. Additionally, you will cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders and train local teams on critical medical topics, fostering a culture of knowledge and compliance within the organization.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the Local Medical Affairs N&I team, managing a team of office-based Medical Advisor(s) and field-based Medical Scientific Experts.
- Lead development of N&I strategy & plans and leads the implementation of the Medical Affairs Tactics and tracking performance and tracking of the N&I medical budget.
- Maintain and demonstrate in-depth scientific knowledge.
- Interact with Local key N&I stakeholders in the medical community (incl. external experts, local Medical scientific societies, patient groups, payors, Health Authorities) and review and communicate insights collected by medical colleagues.
- Facilitate partnership with external stakeholders on innovative research and healthcare solutions.
- Provide local input to product development, work with local clinical operations team to assist in local clinical studies, review ISS proposals and support local data generation and publication processes.
- Represent the company at medical education programs, events, meetings, and support patient advocacy related activities including participating and supporting key national and international medical and scientific conferences.
- Engage with internal colleagues (Medical Affairs department, Clinical Operations, Commercial colleagues as appropriate, etc.) in developing and delivering and participating in Medical or cross-functional initiatives.
- Key country interface for N&I Regional and Global Medical Teams in addition to the Medical Director or as delegate.
Who you are:
- Minimum educational background: Medical doctor or pharmacist (pharmacist must be registered or qualify to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council); PhD also considered.
- Minimum 5 years in pharmaceutical industry.
- Experienced working knowledge and application of the ABPI and IPHA Codes, with signatory experience, advantageous.
- Experience in UK and/or global Medical Department.
- Strong network with key stakeholders in N&I is advantageous.
- Leadership experience with small to medium-sized teams and small budget.
- Substantial professional, clinical or research experience in a scientific or related field required (minimum of 2 years preferred) including knowledge and experience of methodology of clinical research and Good Clinical Practice preferred.
