We have a fantastic opportunity for students to join our Contract Testing Services business in the UK for 3 months over the summer from June 2nd, 2025 until August 29th, 2025. Students will collaborate with teams across various parts of the business, gaining meaningful industry experience. Summer students will get the opportunity to undertake various tasks whilst collaborating with our colleagues across our departments. The students will be able to learn on the job, developing practical skills and personal competencies, building relationships with colleagues across our business.
Your Role
Titred mycobacterium stock development – The core role will be working with the project lead to test different bacterial bank preparation methods. This project will support the Microbiology team by developing a new process for creating a mycobacterium positive control stock, which can adequately be titred and enumerated.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the microbiology project lead on different processes for creating mycobacterium positive control.
- Responsible for culturing/growing of the organism, observing its progress, banking it and plating it to enumerate.
- Maintaining aseptic techniques during all laboratory activities
- Always ensures a safe and healthy work environment by embracing health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring safety of yourself and others within the workplace
- Actively maintains a clean, tidy, safe work environment
Who You Are
- Degree/MSc Student, or recent graduate in relevant subject looking for work experience
- Knowledge of Bacterial bank preparation methods is preferred but not essential
- Proactive, organised and able to work independently
- Collaborative and able to consult and interact with colleagues
- Written and verbal communication capability
- GMP knowledge would be beneficial
- Computer literacy
