JOB DESCRIPTION: Temporary Recovery and Purification  Biochemist – Downstream Process (6-Month Contract with Possibility of Permanent Position)

 

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Within our matrix organization you will be part of the production teams in the plant 13 facility and will be a member of the down process (recovery and purification) team.

 

  • A Biochemist is responsible for production of natural products from microbial fermentation and plants at downstream steps under different regulatory standards [ISO9001, ISO13485]
  • The production activities includes: work with large volumes of organic solvents, and aqueous solutions.
  • -Operation of industrial scale equipment: centrifuges, extraction tanks, lyophillizers, evaporators, mixers, filtration systems and preparative chromatography.
  • -Performs analytical assays as in process control and final material: TLC, UV, VIS, NMR ,  HPLC, Protein determination and enzymatic assays and more.
  • Documentation of the manufacturing process.
  • Learning, Understanding and implementing into work the “Quality system” and “Regulatory Compliance” as dictated in Merck's SOPs. 
  • Perform troubleshooting
  • Administration of manufacturing costs through SAP systems.
  • Operating Organic and inorganic elaborated skids.

 

 

 

AUTHORITY

 

  • Write, update, approve and Sign production protocol (MMF’s) and SOPs
  • Fulfills all quality, environmental, health and safety requirements
  • Analytical assays.
  • Writes\ updates production protocols.
  • Administration of operational procedures through electronic systems: SAP and lotus notes.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION/LANGUAGES

  • B.Sc in organic chemistry, or chemistry of natural products, Biotechnology , Biotechnology engineer
  • Fluent English and Hebrew
  •  

 

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of industrial experience in relevant large scale production -advantage
  • Learning ability- quick learning of production processes and techniques, troubleshooting
  • Analytical/preparative skills in HPLC systems– advantage
  • Ability to implement new technologies - advantage.
  • Ability to perform process improvement - advantage.
  • Analytical/preparative skills in chromatography/ HPLC systems– advantage
  • Ability to implement new technologies - advantage.
