Department: EL-TF-MC Customer Applications Thin Film

Report to: Global Head of Customer Applications – Thin Film Solutions (in U.S.)

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Purpose

This important position is responsible for leading engagements with customers for insights on technology roadmaps and competitive intelligence to promote and deliver to innovative and integrated Thin Films Solutions (TFS)to advance customers’ goals.

Scope

This position will be based in Japan and will report to the Global Head of integrated Customer Applications (iCAS) of TFS BU (Business Unit). The scope includes the promotions and coverage of offerings of all three products-specific platforms (OM (Organometallics), OS (Organosilanes) and SOD (Spin-on dielectric)) in thin films solutions portfolio. Critical to the success in this position is developing collaborative and productive relationships with internal stakeholders and key representatives with top-tier customers in Japan at all levels of customer organizations particularly at module and fab levels.

 

DIMENSIONS

The Customer Applications Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Build and develop customer relationship at the module/fab levels within the assigned accounts and map out decision making processes/relevant stakeholders of customers (Power maps).
  • Identify new POR (Process of Record) opportunities, collect VoCs (Voice of Customers) including technical requirements and translate them into measurable CTCs (Critical To Customers) to Market Managers and R&D for further assessments and developments of new POR opportunities.
  • Lead technical engagements with assigned customers including both Technical Review meetings and Technology roadmap meetings for insights on technological development trends of customers.
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) process and eventual launches/commercialization of R&D offerings.
  • Clarify competitive landscape at the project level and TFS level on customer sides.
  • Collaborate closely and effectively with NPL (New Product Launch) team within iCAS organization for samples planning and fulfillment, particularly developmental offerings.
  • Collaborate closely and effectively with global R&D and marketing teams for prioritizations of new POR opportunities and timing of new products promotions.
  • Collaborate closely and effectively with local account managers and global executive account managers for the engagement with strategic procurement of customers.
  • Collaborate with ISC (Integrated Supply Chain), GNAM (Global Network Asset Management), controlling and other functions within TFS BU and across BUs of electronics sector.   

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position is accountable for the following end results:

  1. Lead the efforts of winning new PORs (Process of Records) including the conversions from BKMs (Best Known Methods) in alignment with priorities of both Dielectrics & Metallics BFs (Business fields)/BU and longer term growth aspirations.
  2. Identify new POR opportunities and assess and develop them with marketing & R&D teams to manage a robust pipeline of POR opportunities.
  3. Lead technical engagements with customers and gain insights into their technological development and competitive intelligence on materials technology.
  4. Provide for in-parallel sampling experience for end customers in support for NPI.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in science or engineering (Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, etc.)  PHDs in science/engineering/management is a plus.
  • Customers-facing and technical marketing and sales backgrounds, fab and OEM experience is a plus.
  • Strong spoken and written English & Japanese language skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in semiconductor industry.
  • Proven accomplishments to develop productive customer relationships at various levels.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor materials, equipment and ICs fabrication and packaging processes is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience and proven record in technical marketing, commercial negotiations, business planning, strategy development and execution and project management.
  • Adept at data analytics and pipeline management.
  • Strong teamwork spirit, inter-personal communication and influencing skills while working independently.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically as required.
