Title: Sr SOD Quality Engineer & Japan Thin Film Customer Quality manager

Location: Shizuoka

Department: EL-TF-QA TF/SOD Quality Assurance

Report to: SOD global quality manager (In Shizuoka, Japan)

Number of direct report: 0

 

You will be leading the next generation of Thin Film precursors and SOD materials to enable the innovation to the digital age. This position will be located in Shizuoka, Japan.

 

Responsibilities:

Your Role will be customer and site operational quality focused:

  • Thin Films Quality Customer Lead in Japan:
    • Lead the success of Thin Films products’ quality with customers in Japan
    • Lead and manage successful completion of Japanese customers’ quality initiatives with global, diverse workforce
    • Be the technical communication bridge between our company’s sites and Japanese customers to understand their needs and where our company will help them advance their technology forward
    • Be the voice of the Japanese customers to the Shizuoka, non-Japan sites, and local Japanese specific suppliers for SOD and Thin Film precursor materials
    • Be the key input to technical and commercial risk analysis of new product and change implementation
    • Be the key stakeholder in troubleshooting and problem solving of customer quality issues
    • Develop automated visualizations and data dashboards to update status and key success indicators
  • SOD Senior Process Quality Engineer in Shizuoka, Japan:
    • Lead teams in the execution and quality of SOD materials to major semiconductor customers globally
    • Lead cross-functional teams in resolving technology issues
    • Lead investigations to root cause and manage cross-functional teams in implementation of preventative/corrective or mitigation actions to ensure world-class quality.
    • Support the SOD Quality manager in maintaining quality performance and efforts toward continuous improvement.
    • Ensure discipline to process controls tools to ensure (e.g. SPC reviews) quality, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and variation reduction.
    • Identify and enable automation activities to make decisions faster and improve visibility to unknown variable/issues
    • Be key voting member to disposition discrepant material, identifying gaps in the process, and managing cross-functional teams to implement controls to prevent/reduce variation
    • Lead, engage, and support audits of the sites processing and quality systems
    • contribute to the advancement of global quality related projects and process improvements with Lean and/or Six Sigma or data-driven process optimization projects.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or other Technical discipline
  • 5 yrs or more in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, control engineering, analytical chemist, or semiconductor fabrication experience
  • Fluent in Japanese and business above in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chemical Engineering or Material Science education background, preferably Chemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of Customer engagement
  • 5+ years of process or integration or yield engineering experience in Semiconductor fab. Preferably in Thin Films or SOD process.
  • Moderate to Advanced Statistical knowledge (SPC, t-test, ANOVA, single and multivariate statistical modelling)
  • Proficient with data science/statistical software including JMP, Palantir Foundry, Python, and/or visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Excellent Japanese and English communication skills – oral and written
  • Experience with process improvement, data automation, and data digitization.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain objective with co-workers and work collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in contributing to the advancement of projects, project teams, and process improvements. In addition, Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple activities and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma projects or in data-driven process optimization projects
  • Experience in quality tools for problem solving (5Whys, segmentation, Model Based Problem Solving), FMEAs, continuous improvement (CI) activities, management of change, and document control systems.
  • Ability to work with people from various backgrounds/cultures
  • Experience with ISO9001 Quality Management Systems
  • ISO9001 or IATF 16949 Internal Auditor Certification
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • SAP experience
