Job Title: Head of Technical & Scientific Solutions, APeC 

Position Summary
The Head of Technical & Scientific Solutions (TSS) for the Asia-Pacific excluding China (APeC) region will report to the Head of Commercial Process Solutions. This role will lead a dynamic team of engineers and scientists to ensure robust operations in clinical and commercial-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing, utilizing Millipore Sigma’s and company's best-in-class products, technologies, and processing systems, including M Labs within the region. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders to effectively address customer needs, including technical inquiries and product quality complaints, in a timely manner. Additionally, they will develop and implement strategies to differentiate against competitors, enhance customer satisfaction, and improve operational efficiency.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Strategic Impact

  • Drive the adoption of Millipore Sigma/company's products, facilitate competitive conversions, and seed wins to ensure business growth and market leadership.
  • Enable both customers and internal partners to achieve their objectives through effective resolution of inquiries and complaints.
  • Defend Merck’s position in front of customers while providing strategic insights into customer programs and plans.
 

Scope of People Responsibility

  • Manage, coach, and mentor a diverse technical team, including people managers, within an organization of 60 personnel for APeC excluding China.
  • Foster a climate of Health, Inclusion, and Diversity (HIC and DE&I) within the organization.
 

Cooperations

  • Collaborate with regional commercial organizations, global TSS peers, R&D, Franchise, Field Service, GSA, ISCO, and Quality Teams.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, industry forums, associations, conferences, and regulators.
 

Education / Work Experience

  • Minimum of a B.S., M.S., or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related engineering/science discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience in biopharmaceutical technical roles in manufacturing, pilot, or lab-scale environments, preferably in customer-facing positions.
  • Proven industry experience and technical knowledge, including people management and leadership skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • Technical mastery of one or more bioprocess applications, including process requirements, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Experience managing within a matrix organization.
