Your Role

As EHS Engineer you will be part of the Facilities & Logistics team of a growing BSL-2 GMP Facility (~4,000 m2) which offers Contract Testing Services for biopharmaceutical companies across the APAC region. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance to regulatory and corporate EHS requirements, and you will promote a safety, health and sustainability culture across all employees. You will also coordinate equipment maintenance and lead investigations and CAPA’s to maintain high-quality standards and ensure the safety of life-changing medicines tested at our Singapore site.

This role will require close collaboration internally with Lab Operations, Quality, PMO, Regulatory and Corporate EHS.

 

What You Do

EHS

  • Manage site EHS program to ensure compliance and maintain a safety and healthy work environment
  • Responsible for chemical safety and biosafety of the BSL-2 lab facility, waste disposal, safety equipment and procedures for managing hazardous substances and pathogens in accordance with regulations and corporate standards.
  • Initiates and facilitates EHS risk assessments to identify and control safety risks.
  • Responsible for applications, on-site inspections and on-time license renewal by government agencies (NEA, SPF, SCDF, AVS,..).
  • Lead CTS-Singapore Lab safety committee to promote and achieve a safe workplace.
  • Deliver EHS orientation and training to lab employees and contractors and completes contractor work permit review before the start of work. 
  • Monitor and report site EHS performance indicators, recommend actions and implement CAPA’s.
  • Facilitate site’s emergency response and conduct periodic drills.
  • Perform periodic inspection for laboratory and office to ensure strict compliance to procedures.
  • Reviews safety documents of new materials introduced to the site and defines appropriate safety measures.
  • Define and review site safety procedures against regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Plan local implementation of company sustainability strategy and promote sustainability initatives across the site.
  • To ensure that suitable risk evaluations are performed for all activities in question to ensure compliance and to determine necessary occupational, health and safety measures.
  • Reports any non-conformances to the delegating management or Corporate EHS

 

Engineering

  • Coordinate instrument maintenance with vendor and ensure documentation as per GMP/GLP/GDP requirement
  • Monitor equipment maintenance and calibration contracts and work with Procurement for quotations
  • Contribute to validation works including new equipment installation, commissioning and coordination with vendor
  • Lead investigations, write events, address audit findings and own CAPAs and Change Controls at site level.
  • Lead projects impacting site level and support projects and events with global scope.

 

Who You Are

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Science related discipline
  • 1-2 years of working experience in Laboratory, R&D and/or manufacturing environment
  • Experience of safety management of hazardous agents and practical knowledge of statutory/regulatory requirements on safety
  • Experience in a regulated environment (GMP) with experience in leading investigations, change controls and regulatory audits preferred
  • Understanding of operation of BSL-2 Lab environment is preferred
