Search & Evaluation Lead Asia Pacific

 

Your role: 

You will drive access to key external innovations from biotech/biopharma companies in the whole Asia Pacific region, enabling critical advancement of the company pipeline; search and evaluate external opportunities in the region and lead scientific and technical due diligence process for potential partners, acquisitions, or licensing deals and you will:

 

  • Scout and evaluate external opportunities from the Asia Pacific region, for assets from discovery to commercial stage as well as technologies that are in line with the global focus areas across all therapeutic areas.
  • Screen for external assets that can significantly enhance the innovative portfolio in the major markets of the Asia Pacific region, specifically China and Japan.
  • Support global out-licensing efforts within the Asian network.
  • Lead the R&D/Technical Due Diligence (DD) team of cross-functional experts to provide a solid, holistic assessment for decision making
  • Drive the scientific and technical assessment process all along ensuring clarity in key focus areas for deep diligence
  • Build strong network with key opinion leaders, centers of excellence, biotech and biopharma companies in Asia Pacific
  • Develop thorough understanding and landscaping of competitive environment for areas of strategic focus and identify new concepts and emerging technologies/modalities that are in line with global and regional R&D and commercial priorities
  • Support regional strategic initiatives by providing insights into local biotech/biopharma industry, overall trend and changes in related policies
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment in areas of focus and integrated assessment in line with the deal making process.
  • Become an integral part of the Asia BD Team to drive innovative portfolio growth both globally and in the region.

 

Who you are: 

  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or comparable degree in life sciences required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharma drug development in global drug development, including track record of leading multidisciplinary global project teams in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical development process, with credible hands-on R&D experience and demonstrated expertise in multiple areas of drug development and/or broad working knowledge spanning research, pre-clinical development, process development, manufacturing, clinical, and regulatory processes.
  • Strong knowledge in the relevant therapeutic area, preferably in ONC, N&I, and CM&E
  • Experience in conducting and leading Due Diligences and related activities with demonstrated experience of guiding on key questions and guiding diligence teams.
  • Business acumen: MBA or experience in business development, venture capital, biotech, consulting etc. is a plus
  • Proven track record for delivering fast paced projects
  • Excellent matrix leadership ability. Ability to interact with senior R&D executives to gain alignment as well as external experts to drive insights rapidly.
  • Ability to work under stress/fast paced timelines/uncertainty
  • Ability to represent the company and to interact at all levels both internally and externally across key geographies in which we operate
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the face of uncertainty, or with incomplete or ambiguous data
  • Ability to come to independent conclusions based on own analyses of available data and confidence to professionally represent these conclusions to senior stakeholders
  • Rational persuasion – data driven, deep analytical thinker
  • Position requires domestic and international travel.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Mandarin with excellent communication skills
