Purpose
Reporting to the Medical Manager, Medical Affairs, you will be responsible for increasing brand awareness through scientific exchange of safety and efficacy data on behalf of the Medical Affairs Department, establishing professional relationships with various agreed upon internal and external stakeholders in Australia.
As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will engage in the exchange of scientific data and sharing of clinical information on a peer-to-peer basis with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs). You are responsible for providing balanced and objective scientific information and education to healthcare customers and to internal business partners as required by the needs of the business. Externally, the role will be informed via insights on scientific trends and competition within the therapeutic area and you will work to develop and deliver the customer experience and enhance relationships with Key Thought Leaders (KTLs) through multi-channel engagement and customer preference.
In addition, you will remain up to date with scientific trends, knowledge and the competitor activity, whilst maintaining relationships with KTLs. You will be responsible for ensuring company’s compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and laws as well as providing medical expertise on patient/drug safety and medical topics.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide medical expertise to ensure accuracy of data to support existing or new product promotion.
- Provide scientific support to Commercial.
Scientific Exchange/Insights
- Provide to KTLs and decision makers accurate, unbiased, balanced and timely answers to requests for information about our products.
- Interact with relevant stake holders to discuss scientific information and implementation of the local strategic plan.
- Gather and communicate insights collected in field or through other channels through our company insight capturing system.
Operations
- Contribute to Medical material, review Marketing material, deliver trainings when needed.
- Ensure scientific and clinical accuracy for specific product or brand.
- Comply to relevant training and SOPs.
- Contribute to Local internal scientific training and ensure continuous Medical education of existing teams and new employees working in the Local TA.
- Implement Medical KTL scientific interaction plans including liaising with Commercial colleagues regarding joint KAM / MSL meetings (virtual, F2F), whilst maintaining MA Code compliance.
- Positively impact external perceptions and knowledge regarding company and company products.
- Maintain and demonstrate comprehensive and in-depth scientific TA knowledge when executing assigned tactics.
- Ensure operational excellence by sharing best practices.
Data Generation and Scientific Communication
- Provide comprehensive scientific education on disease states, therapeutic options and research advances of shared importance to our company and external experts.
- Support (depending on nature of study and relevance of portfolio) Medical studies, assist to coordinate Local clinical projects and contribute to site selection for clinical projects
- Support (when needed) local publication process, publication dissemination and alignment with Country and Above Country publication plans.
- Support communications for ISS between investigators and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations in providing field support for research studies and assist in the selection of clinical study sites.
- May provide support with presentation and discussion on local Studies at internal study review committee meetings.
Customer Experience and Channel Management
Change Management sponsorship
- Accountable for visible, active sponsorship for success in transitioning to new customer experience and engagement model.
- Implement digital programs effectively.
Measurement
- Manage through data collection and usage analysis and adapt digital channels to align with customer preference through business objectives to enhance customer engagement effectiveness.
Data management
- Manage the data interpretation and actions arising from the behavioral customer insights.
Customer journey
- Implement the medical strategy for customer engagement, by contributing to digital and personal tailored plans for customers, that is balanced across deep insights, individual needs and preferences and company objectives, whilst being cognisant of levels of customer defined access, the specific service required, type of content, and expected speed of response.
Content
- In line with the customer journey, deliver relevant content that maps to each segment along the journey, utilising an efficient, compliant, agile and timely content process.
Training
- Implement training on new technology applications to interact with HCPs, and collaborate on instruction for corporate usage guidelines, appropriate content usage, compliance considerations, and the best methods for personalizing interaction.

Candidate’s Profile
|
Education/Professional Experience
- University degree (Bachelor’s) required, preferably in scientific field of relevance to position.
- Secondary/advanced scientific qualification (e.g., MSc, PharmD, PhD, DO, MD) required.
- Scientific and/or clinical or research experience/training specific to therapeutic area strongly preferred (minimum of 2 years).
- Previous MSL/RML (Regional Medical Liaison) or related pharmaceutical experience preferred.
- Understanding of regulatory, commercial, market access and clinical issues affecting industry.
- Knowledge and experience of methodology of clinical research and Good Clinical Practice preferred.
- Self-starter with highly effective interpersonal and influencing skills required to build and maintain working relationships and interaction at all levels.
- Positive attitude, result oriented, competent and a good team-player with a customer focus mindset.
- Independent, high integrity, lots of personal initiatives and demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
Languages
- Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills, both oral and written English.
- Highly developed presentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build ongoing and productive relationships both internally and externally to achieve company strategic goals.
