As EHS engineer, you collaborate with the other EHS team member to maintain and improve site EHS (Environment, Health, Safety + Security, Sustainability) performance, including related ISO systems, and address risk management topics. The EHS team together will provide EHS expertise and technical guidance to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with local and global regulations in alignment with company’s EHS standards and policies. Prevent injuries and damages to our colleagues and business in EHS perspective.

Your Role:

 

1.     Policy Implementation: Ensure that EHS policies, applicable local and global regulations, and corporate standards are fully implemented and adhered to by employees and suppliers. Conduct EHS training and enhance the awareness and knowledge among employees.

2.     Audits and Reporting: Conduct EHS related audits for contractors, workplaces, and employee behaviors. Prepare detailed reports and monitor the status of corrective actions (CAPA).

3.     Risk Assessment: Assess risks and hazards affecting employees, the public, and the environment. Recommend and plan appropriate operational controls to site management.

4.     Data Management: Collect and report EHS data in compliance with local authorities and corporate timelines. Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders on site EHS matters, coordinating effective follow-up.

5.     Resource Management: Maximize EHS team efficiency with the other member, backup each other. Collaborate with other departments in the site, build connection within Merck group (in Taiwan & globally) and with external partners to ensure good PDCA on all site EHS topics.

6.     Continuous Improvement: Adapt to the update of regulation, policy and standard. Lead and drive initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in site EHS practices.


Who Are You:

 

l   Education: A degree in Industrial Safety Management, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or a related field is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in EHS-related disciplines is advantageous.

l   Experience: +3 years of experience in EHS roles within the chemical and/or electronics industries is preferred.

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

l   Candidates with a background in electronics or chemical manufacturing are preferred, along with familiarity with management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 50001, and other developing standards and policies is a plus.

l   Relevant certifications in Environmental Management (waste treatment, toxic substance management, wastewater, air pollution management), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Fire Prevention Management, Emergency Response, hazardous materials management, Process Safety Assessment, and ISO 14001/ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are advantageous.

l   Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

l   Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. A proactive, committed, and results-oriented team player with strong leadership qualities. Ability to work effectively across a matrix organization.

l   Capable of working under pressure with confidence, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills in both the native language and business English.
