YOUR ROLE

The Head of Global Biotech Manufacturing (GBM) Japan is responsible for overseeing the entire end-to-end supply chain within the country. This includes managing demand and supply planning for drug products, coordinating raw material procurement, handling production and capacity planning, supervising packaging and visual inspection operations, as well as site management, third-party logistics (3PL), vendor relations, customer service order processing, and wholesale channel management. All activities are focused on ensuring timely and complete delivery to customers and continually boosting operational efficiency. In addition, this position is essential for building and sustaining strategic partnerships with suppliers and wholesalers that align with market business strategies. The role sits within Global Biotech Manufacturing, regional Supply Network Operations, and the Japan Country leadership teams

WHO YOU ARE

• Lead a team of 36 across manufacturing, supply chain, and wholesaler management, fostering integration and purpose.
• Oversee Japan market end-to-end supply chain from import to distribution.
• Participate in leadership meetings to develop long-term strategies.
• Drive network performance KPIs include incident rate, emissions, lead time, QA Index, EBIT, OTIF, cost, forecast accuracy, inventory, rebates, DSO, people development, and engagement.
• Promote organizational, people, and culture development.
• Manage new product introductions and champion the IBP (S&OP) process among stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve supply constraints from global sites and CMOs.
• Handle internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion of follow-up actions.
• Represent supply in quarterly business reviews and addresses sales impacts.
• Ensure accurate rolling 24-month forecasts for supply and inventory planning.
• Provide analytical support to Atsugi and global teams for production and procurement.
• Direct supplier management, ensuring timely POs, deliveries, and price negotiations.
• Maintain SAP master data compliant with local regulations, ensuring correct transactions.
• Negotiate and manage wholesaler rebate rates and relationships.
• Allocate orders during supply shortages to ensure continuity.
• Lead operational improvements and Gemba initiatives (TIMWOODS, Go-Gemba).
• Advance talent development through HIPO and succession planning.
• University degree in supply chain, technical or business management
• APICS CSCP certified
• 8 years overseas experience in multinational settings
• 10+ years leadership experience in pharmaceutical operations or supply chain
• Proficiency with MS Office; strong analytical and numerical skills
• Demonstrated success in project management, process improvement, and implementation
• Led cross-functional projects and product launches, effective communicator
• In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and its supply chain
• Fluent in Japanese and English
