Your role:

The Head of Process Solutions Japan is an established position that reports to the Head of Process Solutions APAC and is an integral part of the Process Solutions APAC leadership team.

The Head of Process Solutions Japan is a critical role in the realization of our Life Science purpose of impacting life and health with science, as well as to become a market leader within the region. The incumbent is responsible for the business, strategy, process, and people of the Process Solution Japan organization, driving growth and alignment across the teams in Japan to realize full market potentials and create an optimal client experience.


Key Objectives:

  1. Financial – to drive a sustainable and profitable growth by meeting sales target and increase yoy trade margin (Volume/Mix/Price)

 

  1. Process / Operational - Improve the way things are done and create new commercial options
  1. Responsible for operational process to ensure financial deliverables.
  2. Responsible to drive utilization of SFDC for molecule pipeline, quotes and business programs - Success to be measured via use of the SFDC dashboard, completion of SFDC dependent programs (PA, Conversion, Opportunities), alignment of use across CA (Customer Application) and TSS (Technical Service and solutions)
  3. Ensure that all teams have the correct interactions with APAC and global departments
  4. Drive increase in productivity across departments, focusing on digital methods.
  5. Continue proactive order management to manage supply crisis, setting up fulfilment sub team experiment with CEx.

 

  1. People & Leadership - Be a magnet for Talent, Build Talent Management culture and Empower the Team
  1. Build Japan commercial organization that focus on high impact culture and hunting mindset. Ensure continuous focus on talent pipeline for succession planning.
  2. All potentials to have IDP (Individual Development Plan) in HR system and a clear development discussion and track progress on a regular basis.
  3. Drive increases in EES (Employee Engagement Survey), focused on low performing areas and a reduction in actively disengaged.
  4. Strong Onboarding Program closely followed by all managers
  5. Execute on individual and management training curriculums in place with a focus on Sales Skills, Positioning, Digital and Regulatory learning
  6. All promotion requests to have a justification based upon Career Ladder


Key Responsibilities:

      1. Strategy Formation and Implementation

 

  • Develop an agile commercial strategy for Process Solutions Japan, anticipating mega-trends, complex challenges, opportunities as well as external factors such as Markets/Geopolitics.
  • Ensure execution of strategy and meets long-term business needs.

 

     2. Business Planning - Develop an accurate demand Planning

 

  • Execute a rolling 36 months demand plan for both countries and all portfolios and responsible for demand accuracy thru IBM.
  • Develop annual business plans for Japan in alignment with global marketing strategy and local market.
  • Quantify business outcomes (i.e., revenues or other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)), quantity / volume for TOP SKU, detail expense and headcount budgets.
  • Develop business cases with the team for key projects, ensure cross-functional integration.

 

     3. Leadership and Direction - Be purposeful and Define Vision/Mission/Values

 

  • Set and communicate strategy and actions required to achieve the organization's mission, vision, and values within Process Solutions Japan.
  • Inspire a large or diverse workforce to commit to the same purpose, vision, mission and values. Drive the team to go above and beyond to achieve the organization's business goals.

 

      4. Organizational Capability Building - Shapes and Evolves Organizational strategy

 

  • In alignment with corporate principles, define detailed organization structure for Process Solutions Japan as well as the relationship between different elements of the organization
  • Define the responsibilities of senior managers to enable the organization to achieve its business objectives.
  • Identify the organizational capabilities needed to meet the current and future business needs.
  • Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities.
  • Motivate the team to develop their capabilities and fulfill their personal potential.
  • Build capabilities in other parts of the organization through mentoring and other informal methods.
  • Collaborate with Thought leaders from Regulatory and Government Agencies
  • Build and responsible strong connection with C-levels from Key Customers.

 

     5. Performance Management
 

  • Manage and report on the performance of Process Solutions Japan.
  • Set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these.
  • Take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure achievement of annual business objectives.

 

      6. Operational Compliance
 

  • Ensure that business activities within Process Solutions Japan comply with relevant external regulatory and / or voluntary codes and with internal policies to minimize business risk and protect the reputation of the organization.

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor in scientific related field, MBA preferred
  • Minimally 15 years of sales management experience and minimally 10 years of team management experience
  • Profound knowledge in both sales and marketing roles in Life Science or Pharma industry
  • Proven track-record in driving results through strategic planning and business insights.
  • Ability to lead and build effective team; listens and understands the ground reality
  • Ideally with cross-culture experience in other countries to broaden the view.
