Principal Quality Engineer – Formulations

Location: Shizuoka, Japan

Your Role

Quality is not just a checkpoint — it is the foundation on which scientific progress is built.

As a Principal Quality Engineer specializing in Formulations and Electronics, you will serve as a senior technical authority, driving the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems that directly support the development and manufacture of advanced materials and electronic specialty products.

You will independently lead complex quality investigations, apply sophisticated root cause analysis methodologies, and translate findings into robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) that strengthen product integrity across the site.

Drawing on your deep expertise, you will guide and influence peers, cross-functional teams, and middle management on quality standards, regulatory expectations, and best practices — acting as a trusted advisor and mentor within the organization.

You will contribute to the technical direction of quality operations, shape process standards, and play a meaningful role in audit readiness and regulatory submissions.

Your work will have direct impact on the performance of closely related teams and the broader quality area, ensuring that products meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and reliability for customers worldwide.

Who You Are

• You hold a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline, or bring equivalent professional experience in a quality-focused role within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• You have substantial experience in quality assurance or quality engineering within the semiconductor materials, specialty chemicals, or electronics industry, with a strong track record of leading complex quality investigations and driving systemic improvements.
• You bring solid knowledge of quality management systems, including experience with CAPA processes, deviation management, change control, and audit management, and are comfortable working independently within broad guidelines.
• You have a sound understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards applicable to formulations and electronic materials (such as ISO 9001 and SEMI standards), and can apply this knowledge to shape site-level quality practices.
• You are skilled at analyzing complex, multi-source data to identify patterns, evaluate risk, and develop effective solutions — applying strong analytical thinking to problems that span technical and operational dimensions.
• You communicate with clarity and confidence, able to guide and influence peers and management on technical quality matters, and to represent the quality function in cross-functional discussions, customer interactions, and regulatory engagements.

Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English is required to operate effectively in a bilingual site environment and to engage with global stakeholders; additional language skills are a plus.
